A development of two 3 bedroom units and the renovation of an adjoining property. Living spaces are at first floor to maximise solar gain received from the back(south) through obscured glass windows to prevent overlooking. Urban massing maintains the security to the heart of the courtyard and entrance from street side. The roof slopes to suggest views over the adjacent railway line and allow more light to be captured in the rear gardens. The canopy resolves the contradictory orientation of the city context and the environmental context, it faces the view and the sun.
The canopy is clad in Fibre C concrete panels etched to delineate the solar path around the site expressing the designs relationship with the sun.
