FOREST³

Granite cubes tumble down the slopes of the mountain and cluster, forming public spaces cradled into the rock and the forest setting. The cubes are set into the base of the mountain to ground the Religious Studies Centre in its natural setting, grouped around a forecourt to provide a clear entrance sequence to the centre, while looking out into the trees and mountains.

Further cubes are stacked above the centre and coalesce into a rationalistic, harmonious tower of residential accommodation. The tower provides a typology that can be deployed for staff accommodation across the university campus. The mountain forest is extended into the site, and grows on and between the cubes uniting the forest and building as one.
