Ingot / China

A large office complex masterplan. The scheme comprises a large square figure, housing the client’s headquarters functions, set on top of an allegorical landscape of buildings for auxiliary functions. The clarity and scale of the office casts a strong impression of the client company to its surroundings. The flowing form of the landscape buildings provides a counterpoint to this, with extensive planted areas of grasses and trees bringing a sense of the countryside and ecology to the industrial site. The landscape edge is clad in a sinuous sweeping ribbon of glass. Photovoltaic glazing is used to mitigate solar heat gain, and provide electricity for the site.

The Ingot office block of stacked bars of office space allows excellent natural lighting and ventilation of the spaces, while retaining an efficient layout of lift and stair cores. The brick fins allow views out, while shielding the spaces from excess sun.
