Light House / Crosshaven

A detached five bedroom family house overlooking Cork Harbour, Ireland. Internal spaces are arranged so as to explore the concept of ‘living in the landscape’. The house is constructed with heavy solid walls, the thermal mass of the local stone/concrete structure affords extra energy saving during summer and winter. A private lawn is planned to the rear and a more natural wild / semi-wild habitat is maintained to the front of the house. A mono pitch roof reduces maintenance on this exposed site.

The massing and orientation allows all primary living areas to enjoy passive solar gain without overheating. All living spaces enjoy the view towards Roche Point lighthouse and the Atlantic ocean in the distance.
