Stage House / Rivercourt Road
A House for an actor in Hammersmith, London. The parents of a successful young actor wished to purchase a home for him which was close to their family home. A neighbouring house was placed on the market and the family acquired it. We proposed to link the two properties via their rear gardens. Three main concepts drove the project, the relationship of the home to the nearby Thames and A4, an external performance space and a layered rear extension formed with etched glass. The house would transform from day to night from an outdoor theatrical space to a cinema space with a basement cinema.
The outdoor link and stage allowed a comfortable, healthy distance between the parents and child, an opportunity to express the ambitions of the family and most importantly a great party space to be shared by all.
