The House That Borrows 2 / Calabria Road

A renovation of an end of terrace property and its single storey addition to the rear, formerly a working carpenters studio. The design takes advantage of the studios low section by allowing direct sunlight to penetrate and views of nature through a visually thin roof skin. The areas are planned commensurate with the time spent in the spaces and a usable external space, dining area, utility room and second bedroom are gained in the new layout. Large oak sections and zinc cladding are used to conceal the frame for a 'disappeared' glazed room.

The built home is orientated to borrow the beautiful existing features of the grand homes that surround it.
