The Kite / Liverpool
A new monument for Liverpool. The ride of your life. A city event takes prospective buyers for a residential development on a ride high on the Liverpool skyline. The ride slowly rises and spins as the visitor listens to an explanation of the history of the host city. Once docked at the top an audio-visual experience overlays the sight sand sounds of the past and future of Liverpool onto the transparent Kite with the city beyond. Once complete the ride drops at speed to the ground to welcome the next set of visitors. Eco-resin and steel mesh create the Kites form tied back to the ground by stainless steel ties.
The Kite would become a landmark in the city and could move to other sites as development of post industrial cities/towns progresses. The base of the tower, a strong triangular form with a central pool would be left for future generations to remember the event and implant the place in people's memories as the housing below beds itself into the city fabric.
