Wren House / Monument

Directly opposite the site for the proposed three storey penthouse is the St Mary at Hill church, built by Sir Christopher Wren between 1670 and 1676. To gain planning permission the project had to respect the local Conservation Area and the setting of the listed church. A glazed cascade begins with a view of the church at low level and then a panoramic view of the city of London and the Monument on the roof terrace. The home was a balance between the spectacular views out and maximising internal space whilst ensuring the prominence of the Church from street level, Lovat Lane.

The proposal is both striking in its modernity and respectful to the Wren church opposite. Following extensive discussions, English Heritage accepted the proposals.
