EXPOSURE

An exhibition on architecture, light and the world around at the RIBA to celebrate our 10th anniversary

FOR COFFEY

The tenth anniversary of Coffey Architects was celebrated with the ‘Exposure’ exhibition at the RIBA. The exhibition and accompanying book captures and embodies our preoccupations in architecture for the experiential qualities of how a place feels, how it connects to the light and elements outside, how it performs as a space for social interactions and how it respects its wider ecological context.

Projects were exhibited alongside photographs exploring empathy, context, morphology and light by practice founder Phil Coffey, examining how architecture and photography can inform one another.

Exhibits and furniture such as a model table, bookcase, light table, project islands, marble, and coffee table are illustrated across different levels.

INSIDE & OUTSIDE

The exhibition occupied interior as well as exterior spaces at the RIBA in order to blur the boundaries - just like our architecture.

TORCH LIT EXHIBITION

After dark the exterior exhibition could be experienced by using the provided torches.

VARIETY OF MEDIA

The exhibition used full size mock-ups, physical models, drawings, photos and slides in order to depict our passion in the best possible way.

A collection of three different building material samples: a large blue concrete slab, a smaller wood sample with horizontal grain, and a tiny beige wood sample, arranged on a wooden surface with a white background.

COFFEY TABLE - THREE WAYS

The bespoke table was designed to hold the exhibition book. Depending on which way you turn the table different amount of books can be stored. The table is made of birch ply and concrete - two of our favourite materials due to their durability and aesthetics.

Three isometric illustrations of a cube with layered and stacked components, progressing from an initial state to a more complex assembled structure.
Two closed gray booklets with geometric designs on the covers, one labeled 'Exposures'.
